How to properly clean your entire home

We are here to make it all easier for you when you are up to deep clean your home. Do not panic, in fact the process is very easy, even easier than you may assume. Start with the basic steps, then do a couple of chores, and your home will be at its sparkling best in a short period of time.

Steps for every room

1. Start with decluttering

Declutter while moving through the rooms. Do not get too sentimental while cleaning and try to get rid of anything that does not belong there. Make sure to toss old mail, newspapers and magazines away. Once there are less things and knick-knackery, the deep cleaning will be a lot easier for you. What is even better, when you see how tidy those areas are, it will give you power to keep moving.

2. Work from top to bottom

Start with cleaning the hard-to-reach areas. For example, start with dusting the ceiling, ledges, light fixtures (do not forget about the bulbs), walls, and skirting boards. For these high surfaces, you will need a microfiber mop or a duster with an extension pole. The greatest advantage of the duster is that you can clean the undersides and behind the pieces of furniture without you having to move them. For areas above your eye level, all you need to do is simply dampen the mop. For lower areas, mix warm water with a few drops of dish soap. When you clean bathrooms, you can add a few drops of vinegar to disinfect and remove mould. Where mop cannot get the job done, clean with a microfiber cloth. Do not forget to rinse and wring and rinse.

3. Wash the windows

Do not feel down. You will be thankful once you finish with it. Start with vacuuming the tracks and sills. After that, wash the window entirely with a cleaning solution. Fortunately, you do not have to pay an arm and a leg for a window cleanser because you can make yourself such at home. We are sure that you have the ingredients in your pantry already. Mix vinegar, water and rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. Spray the solution and let it do its own trick for a minute or two, then use a squeegee to remove the debris along with the solution. Try to wipe only in one direction on inside the glass and another on out because this tactic will help you see the streaks. Avoid cleaning the windows on hot, sunny days because when the solution dries off it will be harder for you to deal with the streaks.

Instead of taking down shades and blinds every time, make it easier for you. You can simply vacuum those by using the brush attachment. Easy, right? To save save time and efforts, instead of washing the curtains, you can toss them in the dryer for a couple of minutes. After you are done with dusting the rod, hang the curtains and that’s all.

4. Get rid of the dust

When you dust, you need to make sure that not a single area is left behind. Studies indicate that collected dust can cause a range of breathing problems. Dust all hard surfaces such as shelves, pieces of furniture, worktops, etc. If you want to do the tenancy cleaning in a quicker manner, put a cotton sock on your hand and move the items with the other one- 2in1. For a couple of minutes you will be able to dust every zone of your home. Do not forget to dust lampshades and other objects which you touch daily such as switches, TV remotes, etc.

5. Clean the floors

Do not neglect cleaning the floors. When you do it, you have to do it the right way. Yes, you have to move the furniture, too. Get somebody to give you a hand with moving the couch, the wardrobe or the bed. To save yourself the trouble of moving the furniture again in future, take advantage of gliders and put them under the pieces. Use the vacuum attachment to remove grime and dust from corners and skirting boards, too. For hardwood floors, use a microfiber mop and a cleaning solution. If you haven’t had your carpets professionally cleaned this year, it is still not too late to get on the right track.

6. Wash the bedding

You thought we would miss this one? If you want to achieve proper hygiene for your entire home, you need to take care of everything. Launder the comforter, blankets, bed skirt, and pillows, of course. To make the drying process quicker, set the washing machine for an extra spin cycle.

7. Freshen the mattresses

When you have already strapped your bed, sprinkle baking soda all over the mattress and about an hour later vacuum. Make sure to do this procedure at least twice a year.

8. Polish the cabinets

Clean the tops of the cabinets as a first step. After this, clean the doors with wood cleanser (or, simply use a few drops of liquid dish soap added to warm water).

9. Clean in and around electric appliances

When the fridge is almost empty, hand wipe it entirely. Wipe the dishwasher and oven down as well. Make sure to remove greasy marks, burn-on food and other leftovers.

10. Clean and tidy the counter tops

Make sure to get rid of items which do not belong on the counter tops. The less things there are, the easier it will be for you to clean. Wipe clean the counter tops while paying attention to spots which are not so obvious to the naked eye.

11. Make showers sparkle

To remove water spots or soap residues, use heated white vinegar and apply it on the shower doors. Repeat the procedure to keep the doors wet for a half an hour. Then sprinkle baking soda on a microfiber cloth and scrub the surface till the marks are gone.
